IN THIS LESSON

When handling sensitive data, it is important to keep them secret and keep them safe.

Exposure of sensitive data is one of the greatest cyber security risks and, as a result, is even subject to strict privacy laws that may differ between countries. In the US, the standards are upheld by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

In this chapter, we will explore the means by which that information is encoded and decoded in our to familiarize one’s self with the importance of “going the extra mile”, so to speak. Through this understanding, developers and security personnel can reinforce their systems to prevent prying eyes from seeing information they should not be privy to.
